Loni Vicaire

Upon arrival at the MMS, Loni assumed the role of the Nujigina’muet or the Rights and Treaty Educator; now she is working as a policy advisor for the Agnutmatesnu unit.

Loni attended Cape Breton University and graduated with a master’s degree in business administration (Community Economic Development).  She also has a Bachelor of Arts from Saint Mary’s University (2016) and two diplomas in Office Administration from Algonquin College (2009).

Growing up in Listuguj, Loni has always felt a community connection, and although she left the community a couple times to pursue post-secondary training and gain work experience, she always knew coming home was inevitable.  By living away from home and now working for a rights-based organization like the MMS, Loni has gained great appreciation for working in-community and for the people. Being here and doing this kind of work is where Loni has always wanted to be. She is thrilled with her new role where she can use her research and writing skills!

Loni lives life with her partner, Jacob, their two children, Orios and Scarlett, and their cat, Belle. She likes going hiking and walking and playing Pokémon Go with her family.  She looks forward to travelling more and spending a month in the Mediterranean … eventually!
